The town of Buena Vista is situated at the approximate geographic center of Colorado, in the Upper Arkansas River Valley at the foot of the Continental Divide, at an elevation of approximately 8000 feet. The town is located about 120 miles south southwest of Denver and about 90 miles west of Colorado Springs.
The region is a favorite location for outdoor activities such as golf, river rafting, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, sight seeing, hunting, cross country skiing, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, down hill skiing (near by at Monarch and Ski Cooper). The area also includes a number of hot spring spas that offer year round activities.
